In honor of National Reentry Week, ReConnect, Inc. will be hosting an intimate screening of the film "Omar & Pete." The film follows two longtime friends who have been in and out of the prison system for over 30 years and their journey to "reconnect to success" in their Baltimore community. The film gives viewers a real life glimpse of what many newly released prisoners go through upon release: recidivism, financial hardships, job barriers, and minimal support systems.
Immediately following the film, there will be a roundtable discussion about reentry and returning citizens, updates on reentry efforts in the community, and refreshments.
The United States Department of Justice started National Reentry Week to support successful reentry efforts, promote public safety, and raise awareness of the importance of reentry strategies and programs that help give second chances to released and incarcerated individuals.
